About

Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 2 is a landmark action‑adventure game developed by SCE Japan Studio and Team Ico, and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It first released in North America on October 18, 2005, followed by Japan on October 27, 2005, and Europe and Australia in February 2006. You play as Wander, a young man who rides into a forbidden land with the body of a girl named Mono and makes a pact with a mysterious entity called Dormin: if he destroys sixteen gigantic beings known as colossi scattered across a vast, mostly empty landscape, Mono might be revived. Gameplay is built entirely around locating, climbing, and defeating these colossal creatures, using your sword’s light to track them and your wits to find and exploit their weak points. There are no towns, random enemies, or traditional dungeons—each colossus is a puzzle‑boss encounter that mixes platforming, stamina management, and physics‑driven climbing. The PS2 original is famous for its art direction, atmosphere, and music, but also for its unstable performance and heavy frame‑rate drops due to the hardware being pushed to its limits. The game shares a universe and stylistic DNA with Ico, and later received an HD remaster on PS3 and a full remake on PS4.
