Death Stranding on PS4 is a genre-defying action game directed by Hideo Kojima, released on PS4 in December 2018 (originally released in Japan on July 12, 2018). After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats called Beings from the Dead (BIRDs) to save mankind. The game features a timefall phenomenon where rain causes things to age rapidly, requiring players to construct outposts and Facilities to weather the storms. Gameplay combines exploration, base-building, combat, and strategic resource management in a post-apocalyptic world where Sam can link with other players' outposts online for shared benefits. The PS4 version includes Director's Cut content in some releases, enhanced visuals, and new gameplay features.
